Thu Sep 12 09:36:59 UTC 2024: ## Global AI Summit Features First International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad
**Riyadh, Saudi Arabia** – The first International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad kicked off this week in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Global AI Summit (GAIN). 25 countries are competing in the two-day event, with teams of up to four AI experts tackling technical challenges and problem-solving using advanced AI technologies.
The Olympiad, organized by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), builds upon a five-week lecture series where AI specialists and enthusiasts honed their skills and qualified for the competition. The program is conducted in partnership with the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) and the International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence in Slovenia, a UNESCO-affiliated center.
The event aims to foster innovation and provide a platform for the brightest minds to stay ahead of the rapidly evolving AI landscape, encompassing topics from AI ethics to advanced machine learning techniques. Following the GAIN summit, which runs from September 10th to 12th, subsequent Olympiads will be launched for school students across the globe, nurturing young talent and fostering a new generation deeply familiar with AI technologies.
The Olympiad aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a national strategy focused on economic diversification and leveraging data and AI to achieve key goals. The event also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by raising awareness of AI and empowering societies with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate this transformative technology.
