Former Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla has revealed an interesting anecdote about his former teammate and current Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Chawla shared that Rohit, known for his leadership qualities, once contacted him at 2:30 AM to discuss strategies for dismissing Australian opener David Warner.
“Rohit called me at 2:30 AM and asked if I was awake. When I confirmed, he wanted to discuss how to get Warner out,” Chawla said in a recent interview. “He even drew a field placement on a paper and wanted my input on the best way to approach the situation.”
Chawla, who last played for India in December 2012, has been a part of several victorious Indian teams alongside Rohit, including the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup. The two have also shared the field as teammates in the IPL, most recently in 2023 for the Mumbai Indians.
Chawla highlighted that Rohit’s dedication to the team and his desire to extract the best from his players is evident even in his off-field interactions.
