Tue Sep 10 16:51:21 UTC 2024: ## Taiwan and Israel Strengthen Ties Amid Shared Threats from Authoritarian Bloc

**Taipei, Taiwan** – Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-Lung has emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing and technology cooperation with Israel in combating common threats, particularly from an increasingly aggressive China.

Speaking to The Jerusalem Post, Minister Lin highlighted the critical role of these partnerships in bolstering Taiwan’s defense and security. He emphasized the need for technology related to national defense, underscoring the growing challenges posed by China’s assertive actions in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea.

Recent tensions between China and the Philippines, marked by escalating maritime confrontations, further underscore the threat posed by Beijing’s expansionist policies.

Minister Lin also expressed concern over the emergence of a “CRINK” – an “Axis of Evil” comprising China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea – which he sees as a coalition of authoritarian regimes exerting pressure on smaller nations. He sees this bloc leveraging international platforms like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS to solidify their alliance and influence.

“Taiwan is not alone,” said Lin, highlighting the shared challenges faced by countries like Israel. He emphasized the importance of “values-based diplomacy” and the potential for Taiwan to leverage its economic connections to support its international partners.

The growing collaboration between Taiwan and Israel, fueled by shared security concerns, signals a united front against the rising tide of authoritarianism in the international arena.
