Thu Sep 12 03:36:00 UTC 2024: ## Southside Pool Repair Hits Another Snag, Leaving Sacramento Residents High and Dry

Sacramento residents are facing another summer without their beloved Southside Pool, as repair work has been delayed once again. The pool, located near 6th and W Streets, has been closed since the summer of 2022 due to a failing fiberglass lining.

Initial repairs began in June 2023, but crews uncovered a larger issue: degraded return lines and a need to replace a section of the pool deck. This unexpected setback has pushed back the opening date, leaving families who moved to the area for the pool amenities frustrated.

“It’s an old pool, I suppose some of this is understandable, but it’s still frustrating,” said Marni Leger, a member of the Southside Park Neighborhood Association. The association secured funding for the initial repairs, but now faces uncertainty about the new timeline.

The city has confirmed that there are funds available to cover the additional repairs, but residents like Viviana Tinma are worried about another summer without the pool. “We hope that it’ll be fixed soon, like, the faster, the better,” said Tinma, who moved to the neighborhood with her young children in 2022.

While the city has not provided an updated timeline for the repairs, residents remain hopeful that they will be able to enjoy the pool next summer.
