Wed Sep 11 17:14:41 UTC 2024: ## BJP Accuses Congress of Anti-Reservation Stance Following Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks
**Mysuru, September 11, 2024:** The BJP has accused the Congress of holding an “anti-reservation mindset” following comments made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who also serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Gandhi had reportedly stated that reservations would be scrapped “when India is a fair place,” sparking outrage from the BJP.
BJP spokesperson M.G. Mahesh, speaking at a press conference in Mysuru, challenged Dalit activists and writers, including Devanur Mahadeva, to publicly denounce Gandhi’s statement. He further demanded clarification from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders on whether Gandhi’s remarks represented the party’s stance.
Mahesh also took aim at Gandhi’s statement that Dalits receive only ₹5 out of every ₹100, and tribals just 10 paise. He pointed out that this statement comes from a party accused of diverting over ₹25,000 crore meant for SC/STs in Karnataka. He further alleged that the Congress was attempting to appropriate the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, despite having denigrated him during his lifetime.
The BJP spokesperson asserted that the party would amplify Gandhi’s remarks on reservation across rural areas to educate the public on the Congress’s “true stance” on the issue.
