**Mumbai, September 12, 2024:** Actor Malaika Arora is mourning the loss of her father, Anil Mehta, who died after jumping from a building in Mumbai on Wednesday, September 11. The 62-year-old’s death is being investigated as a possible suicide, though Mumbai police are looking into all angles.
Malaika released a statement on Instagram, expressing her family’s deep sorrow and requesting privacy during this difficult time. “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time,” the statement read.
Several Bollywood celebrities visited Malaika’s residence to offer condolences, including Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika’s ex-husband Arbaaz Khan, Chunky Pandey, and his daughter Ananya Panday. The Khan family, including Sohail Khan, Salim Khan, and Salma Khan, also paid their respects.
Actor Varun Dhawan took to Instagram to express his frustration with paparazzi who were pointing cameras at grieving people, urging them to be more sensitive. “It is the most insensitive thing to point cameras in the face of people who are grieving, please,” he wrote. “Please consider what you are doing and how it affects those in mourning. I understand it’s your job, but remember that people might not be comfortable with this.”
Malaika, who was in Pune when her father passed away, rushed back to Mumbai upon receiving news of the incident.
