Tue Sep 10 17:09:36 UTC 2024: ## Experienced Defender Egan Joins Burnley on Loan
**Burnley, England -** Republic of Ireland international John Egan has joined Burnley on a loan deal until the end of the season. The 31-year-old center-back, who was a free agent after leaving Sheffield United this summer, brings a wealth of experience to the Championship side.
Egan, who has 36 caps for his country, was on trial with Burnley under manager Scott Parker and impressed with his performances. He previously played for Gillingham and Brentford before joining Sheffield United in 2017, where he helped them achieve two promotions to the Premier League.
“I’m an ambitious person, an ambitious player, and I feel like I’m at an ambitious club,” said Egan to Burnley’s website. “The manager, staff, and the players all want to be successful. I want to come in and add to that. I want to bring my experience and ability into the group to help drive us on.”
Burnley, relegated from the Premier League alongside Sheffield United last season, are currently sitting in sixth place in the Championship after a strong start to the season. Egan’s arrival will provide a boost to their defensive line and could be key to their push for a return to the top flight.
