**Shenzhen, China** – Huawei has taken the foldable phone market by storm with the announcement of the Mate XT Ultimate Design, the world’s first triple-fold smartphone. This innovative device features a unique bi-fold hinge that allows it to fold into a compact ‘Z’ shape, offering users three distinct screen configurations.
The Mate XT boasts a massive 10.2-inch, 3K OLED display when fully unfolded, making it ideal for detailed work or study. The device can also be partially folded to a 7.9-inch screen, which is larger than an unfurled Galaxy Z Fold 6, perfect for web browsing and reading. When completely folded, the Mate XT offers a convenient 6.4-inch display for everyday tasks.
Despite its impressive size, the Mate XT remains incredibly thin, measuring just 3.6mm thick and weighing 298 grams. The phone features a powerful camera array with a 50MP main lens, 12MP telephoto, and 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, all supported by PDAF, OIS, and laser autofocus.
The Mate XT Ultimate Design comes at a hefty price of 19,999 Yuan (around $2,800), making it more than triple the cost of the new iPhone 16. However, due to US trade restrictions, it is unlikely that the device will be available in the US market.
This groundbreaking technology from Huawei raises the question: will other companies follow suit with their own triple-fold devices? Samsung, who has previously experimented with bi-folding displays, could be a potential competitor in this emerging market. The Mate XT’s arrival marks a significant development in the evolution of foldable phones, paving the way for future innovations and potentially reshaping the mobile landscape.
