Wed Sep 11 09:22:48 UTC 2024: ## Huawei Unveils World’s First Mass-Produced Triple-Fold Smartphone, Mate XT, Competing with Apple’s iPhone 16 Series

**Shanghai, China** – In a bold move coinciding with Apple’s iPhone 16 launch, Huawei has unveiled its highly anticipated triple-fold smartphone, the Mate XT. This groundbreaking device marks the first mass-produced triple-fold smartphone in the industry, signifying a significant advancement in foldable technology.

The Mate XT, priced at 19,999 RMB ($2,810), is the most expensive phone in Huawei’s history. Huawei Chairman Yu Chengdong, leading the Consumer Business Group, boasts the Mate XT as the world’s largest and thinnest foldable phone. The device showcases three distinct modes: single screen, dual screen, and triple screen, offering diverse application scenarios.

This launch signifies a crucial moment in the tech industry, as both Apple and Huawei traditionally unveil flagship devices in September. Notably, other companies like Samsung, Transsion, and TCL have experimented with triple-fold designs. However, mass production challenges and uncertainties regarding commercial viability have hindered their efforts.

Huawei’s Mate XT boasts a 10.2-inch screen and a mere 3.6mm thickness when unfolded. The company’s self-developed hinge system enables both inward and outward folding, paving the way for mass production of triple-fold screens.

Apple also unveiled its new iPhone 16 series, featuring four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This series marks Apple’s first foray into AI-powered phones, with the launch of Apple Intelligence scheduled for next month.

The competitive launch of these innovative devices promises to reshape the mobile phone landscape, further fueling the rivalry between Apple and Huawei. The Mate XT’s introduction represents a significant milestone in the development of foldable technology and will be closely watched by the tech world.
