Thu Sep 12 11:04:02 UTC 2024: ## Huawei Steals the Show with World’s First Tri-Fold Smartphone
Just hours after Apple unveiled its iPhone 16 series, Huawei has taken the tech world by storm with the launch of the Mate XT Ultimate Edition, the world’s first tri-fold smartphone.
The Mate XT boasts a massive 10.2-inch foldable 3K resolution OLED screen, transforming from a compact 6.4-inch smartphone to a 7.9-inch foldable phone and finally a tablet-sized device. Unlike other foldables, Huawei’s innovative tri-fold technology uses a single screen, folding at two levels.
Despite its expansive display, the Mate XT, when fully unfolded, is remarkably thin at just 3.6mm, making it one of the thinnest smartphones on the market. This impressive feat is achieved through advanced technology, including a laminated structure and the use of non-Newtonian fluid.
The device packs a punch with a powerful Kirin 9010 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB/512GB or 1TB of internal storage. It’s powered by HarmonyOS 4.2 and features a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom. An 8MP selfie camera is housed within a punch-hole cutout.
Despite its thin profile, the Mate XT boasts a massive 5600mAh silicon carbon battery, claimed to be the thinnest ever used in a smartphone. The phone supports 66W fast wired and 50W wireless charging, ensuring all-day battery life.
Priced at 1,99,99 Yuan (approximately Rs 2,35,000), the Mate XT is an expensive proposition. It is currently available for pre-order in China, with sales commencing on September 20.
Huawei continues to push boundaries with innovative technology, but unfortunately, due to US sanctions, the Mate XT will be limited to the Chinese market.
