**Srinagar, October 27, 2023:** Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid, recently released on interim bail in a terror funding case, has returned to Jammu and Kashmir, declaring that the upcoming elections will be a victory for Kashmir and Kashmiriyat.
Speaking to reporters, Rashid stated that “truth will prevail” and that the elections are crucial as Kashmir is at a critical juncture. He asserted that the Kashmiri people are not weak and will triumph over the “unacceptable” decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2019.
“The people of Kashmir are not happy with stone-pelting, but they are responding to oppression,” he said, urging the BJP to initiate dialogue and peace talks to resolve the Kashmir issue.
Rashid further criticized the PDP and the NC, accusing them of being proxies for the BJP. He rejected the accusation himself, stating that his election victory over PM Modi in Baramulla was a testament to his genuine support.
He also attacked former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, claiming that his return to politics is solely motivated by personal ambition. He accused Abdullah of hypocrisy, citing his earlier decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections despite knowing about Rashid’s candidature.
Engineer Rashid, who was arrested in 2019 and remained in Delhi’s Tihar Jail since then, is currently out on bail until October 1st. He will be required to surrender to the jail after that date.
His return and his participation in the upcoming elections are considered a significant development in the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, potentially challenging the established political forces.
