Tue Sep 10 17:07:55 UTC 2024: ## Delta Planes Collide on Atlanta Taxiway, No Injuries Reported
**Atlanta, GA** – A Delta Air Lines Airbus A350 bound for Tokyo collided with a smaller Bombardier CRJ-900 operated by Delta subsidiary Endeavor Air on a taxiway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday morning. The incident resulted in the larger plane’s wing striking the tail of the smaller plane, which was preparing for takeoff to Lafayette, Louisiana.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Passengers from both planes were safely evacuated, with one plane returning to a gate under its own power and the other passengers being bused back to the terminal. There were 221 passengers on the Airbus and 56 passengers on the regional jet.
Delta confirmed that both planes sustained damage, with the wing of the larger plane and the tail of the smaller plane requiring repair. The company is cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to investigate the cause of the collision.
While the incident caused some disruptions at the world’s busiest airport, airport officials described the impact as “minimal.” Passengers affected by the collision will be rebooked on other flights.
The incident was witnessed by Jason Adams, a meteorologist for WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida, who was on the smaller plane heading to Louisiana to cover Tropical Storm Francine. Adams shared his experience on X, describing the moment of impact as “terrifying” and noting “jarring, metal scraping sounds then loud bangs.”
