**New Delhi, October 3, 2024:** A 5.8 magnitude earthquake centered near Karor, Pakistan, sent tremors across North India on Wednesday, shaking residents of Delhi and several states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and even reaching as far as Afghanistan. The quake, which struck at a depth of 33 kilometers, was also felt in major Pakistani cities like Islamabad and Lahore.

This is the second earthquake to impact Delhi and its surrounding regions in just two weeks. A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on August 29, causing tremors in the area.

Experts have attributed Delhi’s vulnerability to earthquakes to its proximity to the Himalayas, which is a seismically active zone.
