**San Francisco, CA -** Apple has officially launched the latest generation of its popular AirPods, the AirPods 4, which come in two versions: the standard AirPods 4 and the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. While the standard AirPods 4 retail for $129, the noise-canceling version will set you back $179.
The most notable feature of the new AirPods 4 is the addition of active noise cancellation to the higher-end model. This feature, previously exclusive to the AirPods Pro, allows users to effectively block out surrounding noise, providing a more immersive listening experience.
TechRadar’s US Managing Editor, Jacob Krol, had the opportunity to test the noise cancellation feature at a recent hands-on event, and was impressed by its effectiveness even in a loud and crowded environment.
The new AirPods 4 also feature a redesigned fit, which Apple claims offers “the best-fitting AirPods ever.” The design is more compact than previous generations and features shorter stems for more intuitive force sensor controls.
In addition to noise cancellation, the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation also includes several other features found in the AirPods Pro, such as Find My support for the case, a USB-C charging port, and the new H2 chip for enhanced audio quality.
The standard AirPods 4, while lacking noise cancellation, still boast the same redesigned fit and H2 chip, making them a more affordable option for users who don’t prioritize noise isolation.
Both versions of the AirPods 4 offer up to five hours of playback on a single charge and 30 hours with the charging case. However, using Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, or Adaptive Audio will reduce the playback time to 20 hours.
The new AirPods 4 are available for purchase now, offering a more affordable option for those seeking noise cancellation and a more secure fit.
