Lisbon, Portugal – Renowned street artists Vhils and Bordalo II, known for their contrasting techniques of subtracting and adding to walls, have collaborated on a fascinating mural in Lisbon. The piece, created for the Cor de Chelas Festival, celebrates Charles Darwin’s groundbreaking work, *On the Origin of Species*.

Vhils, who etches images into walls using chisels and drills, has created a portrait of Darwin on one side of the mural. On the other side, Bordalo II, who builds sculptures onto walls using reclaimed materials, has constructed a chimpanzee’s face. This pairing symbolizes Darwin’s observation of the close evolutionary relationship between humans and primates.

The successful collaboration has been immortalized in a limited-edition print titled “Origin,” which replicated the mural. While the print has sold out, Colossal reports that a new print run is scheduled for early next year.

Fans of both artists can follow their work on Instagram, where they continue to push the boundaries of street art with their unique styles.
