**LONDON** – In a heartfelt video message shared on social media, Catherine, Princess of Wales, has announced she is cancer-free following a period of chemotherapy treatment. The news comes as a relief to the royal family, who have faced a challenging year with King Charles III also battling cancer.
“I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” Catherine, often known as Kate, said in the video. The princess, 42, acknowledged the last nine months have been particularly difficult for her family, including her husband Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
While relieved to be cancer-free, Catherine emphasized that her path to full recovery will be lengthy. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she said.
The princess announced in March that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy for an undisclosed type of cancer. This followed the revelation that her father-in-law, King Charles, had also been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing treatment for a benign prostate condition.
The video message, filmed last month in Norfolk, features Catherine and William looking relaxed and happy with their children. The family is seen enjoying the countryside and the beach, engaging in activities like walking through woodland, having a picnic, and playing cards.
In her message, Catherine expressed gratitude for the support she has received and offered solidarity with fellow cancer sufferers. “To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey: I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright,” she concluded.
The princess has stated her intention to resume some public engagements in the coming months. The royal family continues to be a source of support for each other during this challenging period.
