Comedienne Tiffany Haddish caused a stir at New York Fashion Week when she took to the runway at Monse’s Spring 2025 show after being dared by Kathy Hilton. Seated front row alongside the Hilton family, Haddish was challenged to showcase her best walk by Kathy, leading to a spontaneous and unexpected runway appearance.
The internet was divided over the incident. While some found Haddish’s antics humorous and enjoyed the impromptu performance, others criticized the comedian, labelling it disrespectful to the designers and the event.
Some were critical of Kathy for seemingly tricking Haddish into walking the runway, with accusations that she was being laughed at rather than with.
However, Haddish’s actions seemed to be embraced by the fashion house itself. Monse co-founders, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, shared a video of themselves laughing and chatting with Haddish after her impromptu walk, expressing their appreciation for her presence.
This isn’t the first time a Hilton has disrupted a fashion show. Earlier this summer, Kathy Hilton accidentally walked onto the runway during the start of Sutton Stracke’s fashion show.
Whether Haddish will be invited back to a future Monse show remains to be seen, but her spontaneous runway walk certainly created a memorable moment at NYFW.
