**The Rings of Power** showrunners have revealed new details about the creation of the rings for dwarves and men in the upcoming season 2, emphasizing the darker consequences of their power compared to the elven rings.
Speaking to TechRadar, co-creators J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay explained that while the elven rings were inspired by art nouveau jewelry, the dwarf rings were designed to embody their rugged and mountainous nature. The rings for men, on the other hand, were crafted to be more angular and sharp, reflecting their inherent vulnerability to Sauron’s manipulation.
The showrunners further revealed that the rings for each group are progressively more infused with evil. While the dwarf rings have a “slightly sinister and seductive quality,” the rings for men are even more potent in their ability to corrupt.
This is because, unlike the elven rings, the dwarf and men rings were created with Sauron’s direct influence. He secretly added a touch of dark magic to the mithril used for the dwarf rings, making them susceptible to his control. The rings for men will be crafted later in the season, and their creation will further Sauron’s diabolical plans.
The season 2 premiere is set to air on August 29th on Prime Video, and fans are eagerly awaiting the consequences of Sauron’s dark machinations as the dwarves and men succumb to the corrupting power of his rings.
