Tue Sep 10 15:51:59 UTC 2024: ## Springbok Kitshoff Out for Six Weeks with Neck Injury, Missing Start of URC and Potential End-of-Year Tour

**Cape Town, South Africa** – A major blow for the Springboks as veteran prop Steven Kitshoff has been ruled out for at least six weeks due to a serious neck injury sustained during Western Province’s final Currie Cup match against Griquas.

The injury, a neck ligament tear, was confirmed by Stormers coach John Dobson, who revealed the news during a URC coaches round table. The setback means Kitshoff will miss the start of the Stormers’ URC campaign and potentially the Springboks’ crucial end-of-year tour, which includes Tests against Scotland, England and Wales in November.

Kitshoff’s injury is a significant blow for the Springboks, who are currently leading the Rugby Championship standings with a perfect record. While he had been battling injuries since the Rugby World Cup last year and had lost his place in the Springbok squad, his return to form with Western Province had hinted at a possible comeback.

The Springboks are currently in a strong position to claim their first Rugby Championship title since 2019, needing only three more log points from their remaining two matches. The team will face Argentina in Santiago this Saturday, 21 September.

Despite Kitshoff’s absence, the Springboks will be looking to maintain their winning momentum as they aim for a successful end to the Rugby Championship.
