Savannah Guthrie’s daughter, Vale, was quick to capitalize on a chance encounter with her favorite singer at the US Open. After discovering that both her mom and Taylor Swift were present at the men’s singles final on Sept. 8, the 10-year-old sent her mom a string of messages asking her to share a special request with the pop star.

“It’s Vale,” the message began, followed by, “Did you meet her? Tell her I wrote her a fan letter and she is the best singer in the world.” Vale even included a GIF with the caption “Did someone say, Taylor Swift?”

Savannah, who was at the US Open with fellow TODAY hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, happily shared Vale’s message on her Instagram story along with a sweet selfie of her daughter. The trio had a fun-filled day at the championship, even managing to catch a glimpse of Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, across the stadium.

While Savannah and her co-hosts were rooting for Taylor Fritz, Sinner ultimately emerged victorious in the final, winning 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Hoda later posted a photo of the trio on Instagram, captioned “Gotta root for Taylor!!!! Fun Sunday with my girls.”

Swift, who made her first appearance at the US Open on Sept. 8, wore a red-and-white gingham dress that perfectly matched Kelce’s outfit. She was seen dancing with her boyfriend and enjoying the match with her friends, Brittany and Patrick Mahomes.
