Mon Sep 09 14:51:06 UTC 2024: ## UFC 306: Noche UFC Celebrates Mexican Combat Sports Heritage at the Sphere

**Las Vegas, NV** – This weekend, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is hosting a special event at the Sphere in Las Vegas, celebrating Mexican culture and combat sports history with “Noche UFC.”

The event will feature a main event title fight between bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and challenger Merab Dvalishvili, along with a co-main event trilogy bout for the women’s flyweight championship featuring champion Alexa Grasso and former champion Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC President Dana White has described the event as a “love letter” to the Mexican people and their rich combat sports heritage. The Sphere’s cutting-edge technology will be utilized throughout the night to tell the story of combat sports in Mexico, from its origins to its future.

The event will showcase a diverse lineup of fighters, with nine of the ten bouts featuring Mexican-born or Mexican-American fighters.

“We’re going to tell throughout the rest of the night the history of combat in Mexico, from the beginning of time and into the future,” White said in an interview with ESPN’s Pat McAfee.

While the event is set to be a visually spectacular display, it will also feature compelling storylines within the fights themselves. The O’Malley-Dvalishvili bout promises to be a clash of styles, with O’Malley’s striking prowess facing off against Dvalishvili’s relentless wrestling.

Grasso and Shevchenko’s rivalry has captivated the flyweight division, and this fight will finally settle their score after a split-draw in their last encounter.

The undercard features exciting matchups, including Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes, Irene Aldana vs. Norma Dumont, and the rising star Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Aoriqileng.

UFC 306 will be broadcast live on ESPN+ PPV on Saturday, September 14th at 10 p.m. ET.
