**Cookeville, TN** – Tennessee Tech University’s Center for Global Experiences, formerly the Study Abroad Office, has undergone a major transformation. The center has expanded its mission, refreshed its programming, and moved to a new, more visible location in the Volpe Library.
The center now offers a new “Global Ambassadors” program that pairs international students with experienced students to ease their transition to life in the United States. The program offers mentorship, logistical support, and cultural integration opportunities.
The Center has also relaunched its “International Friends” program, a host family program that connects international students with local families for cultural exchange and support. Host families provide regular interaction, including activities, meals, and birthday celebrations, creating a sense of belonging for the students.
The center has seen an increase in international student enrollment and outbound study abroad participation, highlighting the growing importance of global experiences at Tech.
The center’s efforts are focused on fostering cross-cultural understanding and friendship, promoting inclusivity, and enriching the lives of students from diverse backgrounds.
