**Ballymoney, Northern Ireland** – A North Antrim couple, Amanda and Christopher Fulton, are standing trial accused of inflicting severe injuries on a very young child. The alleged abuse occurred between October and November 2019 and included a fractured skull, brain bleeding, and multiple rib fractures.

The Crown alleges that one of the defendants inflicted the injuries while the other was present and aware of the abuse, failing to intervene. The couple, both 35, denies any involvement.

The court heard that the child was admitted to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children where medical professionals discovered a multitude of injuries. While acknowledging that some injuries could be accidental, the prosecution emphasizes that the defendants have not provided an explanation for the extensive trauma.

The trial is expected to last up to four weeks.
