Mon Sep 09 15:44:56 UTC 2024: ## Hundreds of New Recruits Begin Fast Stream Induction at Base Camp

**London, UK** – Over 900 of the brightest and best new recruits to the UK Civil Service are embarking on their Fast Stream journey at Base Camp induction events. These week-long programs, held throughout September and October, provide a comprehensive introduction to the Civil Service, its workings, and the vast opportunities available to new Fast Streamers.

The Base Camp program features presentations from top leaders in government, offering insights into the workings of the Civil Service and how it supports the implementation of government policies. New recruits participate in a series of challenging tasks designed to hone their critical thinking skills and encourage innovative solutions – a taste of the problem-solving they will be involved in as future managers and leaders.

Beaulah Chadwick, Deputy Director of the Fast Stream program, highlighted the significance of Base Camp: “This marks the start of a vital learning journey for our new fast streamers. For many, it is their first experience of the professional world, or the public sector. It provides a crucial grounding in the workings of the Civil Service and demonstrates how our work supports the government.”

New recruits are enthusiastic about the program. Katie Gambier, a Human Resources Fast Streamer, described the experience as “challenging, busy, and fun” with great opportunities to connect with fellow fast streamers and learn from their experiences. Arin Annan, an Operational Delivery Fast Streamer, echoed this sentiment, noting that Base Camp has pushed her out of her comfort zone and provided opportunities to grow and better understand the path ahead.

The Base Camp program is a vital step in preparing the next generation of Civil Service leaders for successful careers in public service.
