**MANILA, PHILIPPINES** – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) officially transitioned to its new operator, the NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), on Saturday. NNIC, led by San Miguel Corp. (SMC) Chairman and CEO Ramon Ang, has outlined ambitious plans to transform NAIA into a world-class, modern airport.

“We are confident that the SMC-implemented projects, once completed, will align with our vision for comfortable, accessible, safe, secure, and affordable transportation infrastructure,” stated Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, highlighting the Department of Transportation’s (DoTr) commitment to providing a seamless travel experience.

Bautista emphasized SMC’s strong track record in public-private partnerships, citing their commitment to excellence and effective government service. “This gives us confidence that San Miguel can deliver on this critical task,” he added.

The NAIA transformation will involve significant improvements, including:

* **Increased Capacity:** The airport’s capacity will expand from 35 million passengers to 62 million passengers annually, while air traffic movement will rise from 40 to 48 flights per hour.
* **Job Creation:** The rehabilitation project is anticipated to generate at least 58,000 jobs.
* **Government Revenue:** The government is projected to earn P900 billion in revenue over the duration of the concession agreement.

AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of ensuring adequate facilities and infrastructure before any terminal reassignments. The airline is looking forward to collaborating with NNIC to elevate the customer experience and prioritize passenger comfort and convenience.

Philippine Airlines President and CEO Captain Stanley Ng also expressed their willingness to work with NNIC and the DoTr to ensure a smooth and efficient transition for passengers.

NNIC has outlined initial terminal reassignment plans:

* **Terminal 1:** Philippine Airlines
* **Terminal 2:** Cebu Pacific (domestic flights)
* **Terminal 3:** All international carriers, including Cebu Pacific and AirAsia (international flights)
* **Terminal 4:** AirAsia (domestic flights)
