Tue Sep 10 13:53:00 UTC 2024: ## War Machine Actor Reacts to Robert Downey Jr.’s MCU Return as Dr. Doom

**Los Angeles, CA** – Don Cheadle, known for his role as War Machine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has revealed his initial reaction to the news that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the franchise, albeit not as Iron Man.

“I was like, ‘What the f*ck?’ I think that’s exactly what I said,” Cheadle told Collider in an interview, echoing the sentiment of many fans.

While details remain under wraps, Cheadle confirmed that Marvel is currently “rewriting and reworking” the future of the MCU, including the upcoming *Avengers* films, *Doomsday* and *Secret Wars*, slated for release in 2026 and 2027 respectively.

“Everything is clay right now… I honestly can’t even tease anything,” Cheadle stated.

The highly anticipated *Avengers* films will see the return of Joe and Anthony Russo, who will direct *Doomsday* and co-produce both movies alongside their AGBO production banner.

Reports suggest that Downey Jr. only agreed to reprise his role as Dr. Doom under the condition that the Russo brothers would direct the films.

The upcoming films will also feature members of the Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts, meaning fans can expect to see characters like Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm, as well as Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Taskmaster, Ghost, and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The full cast is yet to be announced.

With a reported $80 million budget and performance-based incentives for box office milestones, the Russo brothers are poised to deliver two epic finales to the MCU, as we know it.
