Mon Sep 09 15:20:48 UTC 2024: ## Springbok Star Makazole Mapimpi Welcomes Baby, Bringing Joy After Years of Loss

**Bloemfontein, South Africa** – South African rugby fans are celebrating with Springbok winger Makazole Mapimpi as he welcomes a new addition to his family. Coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed during a media briefing that Mapimpi is absent from recent games due to the birth of his child.

The news came as a surprise to many fans, who were unaware of Mapimpi’s marital status. Social media has been flooded with well wishes for the new parents, particularly due to Mapimpi’s history of personal loss.

In the SuperSport documentary “Chasing the Sun,” Erasmus emotionally described a touching moment from the 2019 World Cup, where players were required to have pictures of their family members on their jersey numbers. Mapimpi, however, had only his own picture due to the loss of his family. His mother tragically passed away in a car accident when he was 14, leaving him in the care of his grandmother. He later faced the loss of his sister due to a brain illness and his brother to electrocution.

Despite these hardships, Mapimpi has become known for his resilience. In a 2021 interview, he spoke about his journey, saying, “When you’re from the rural villages, it’s hard to see yourself achieving big things… Everyone has dreams. But to actually believe deep down that you’ll achieve them is not something that feels natural. You have to tell yourself lies sometimes.”

While Mapimpi may have missed the recent game where South Africa won the Freedom Cup, the birth of his child is undoubtedly a much greater and more personal victory. Fans are thrilled to see the beloved player experience this moment of joy and are sending their best wishes to the new family.
