Mon Sep 09 15:20:46 UTC 2024: ## Ole Miss Coach Kiffin Baffled by Fans Leaving Early During Dominant Win

Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin expressed his frustration and disappointment after a large number of fans left Vaught-Hemingway Stadium early during the Rebels’ 52-3 blowout victory over Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

Despite the team’s dominant performance and quarterback Jaxson Dart’s record-breaking performance – he completed 24 straight passes to open the game, breaking a school and SEC record – the stadium was reportedly half empty by the end of the game.

“I don’t really understand it,” said Kiffin. “Maybe I’m naive to it, but if a concert is going really well…do you leave? Like if the product really bad and come back out in the second half and the stadium’s half empty — I understand when it’s a bad product — but I really don’t understand it.”

Kiffin highlighted Dart’s impressive performance, noting that he threw for 350 yards and five touchdowns in the first half, a feat only achieved by Joe Burrow in the SEC since 2019. He also mentioned that Ole Miss is ranked among the top six teams in the country.

“It’s frustrating, but I can’t control it,” Kiffin added. “I’m just disappointed for our players. And I thought it was good weather.”

The Rebels will travel to Wake Forest this weekend before returning home to face Georgia Southern on September 21st. Their first SEC matchup is against Kentucky on September 28th, which could be a more competitive game.

Following the incident, Kiffin tweeted a clip from the movie Gladiator with the caption, “Are you not entertained?” This seemed to be a pointed message to the Ole Miss fanbase, urging them to support the team even during blowout victories.
