**Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:** A local court in Bannu has issued arrest warrants for Islamabad Judge Humayun Dilawar, the judge who sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case last year. The arrest warrants stem from a land grabbing case, where Dilawar is accused of illegally registering land meant for government purposes in his name and using it to develop a housing society.
The case, which involves allegations of corruption and financial loss to the government, also saw arrest warrants issued for Dilawar’s father, brother, and a registrar.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) is responsible for carrying out the arrests and presenting the accused in court.
This development comes amid heightened political tension in Pakistan, with Khan facing numerous legal challenges and accusations of corruption. While Khan’s sentence in the Toshakhana case was later suspended by the Islamabad High Court, the arrest warrants for Judge Dilawar raise concerns about judicial independence and the politicization of the legal system.
The KP government has alleged that the accused, including Dilawar, were involved in illegal land acquisition and development of a housing society, resulting in a substantial financial loss to the government.
Dilawar’s legal team has not yet commented on the allegations. The case is likely to be closely watched for any potential implications on the ongoing political and legal battles in Pakistan.
