**Gaylord, MI** – Week two of the high school football season saw a mixed bag of results for Gaylord-area teams. While Gaylord St. Mary celebrated its first Ski Valley Conference win of the season, both Gaylord and Johannesburg-Lewiston faced tough defeats.
St. Mary’s secured a dominant 46-12 victory over Central Lake, with senior Daniel Jacobson leading the way with 244 total yards and four touchdowns. The Snowbirds amassed 398 total yards while limiting Central Lake to just 112. However, their week three matchup against Forest Area is in jeopardy due to a potential forfeit by Forest Area.
Meanwhile, Johannesburg-Lewiston suffered a 63-6 loss to the defending Northern Michigan Football League-Legacy Conference Champions, East Jordan. Senior Nate Hummel led the Cardinals with 20 rushing yards, while sophomore Joey Smokevitch scored their lone touchdown.
