
Mon Sep 09 16:08:49 UTC 2024: ## Bauchi Governor Shakes Up Cabinet, Appoints New Health Commissioner
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed, has announced a cabinet reshuffle, relieving the Commissioner for Health, Dr Adamu Sambo, of his duty. The governor explained that the change is part of efforts to reposition his administration.
Governor Muhammed assured that Dr. Sambo will be given another position within the government. He also stated that the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs will not be filled with a new commissioner following the recent Supreme Court verdict on local government autonomy, and will instead be headed by a Permanent Secretary.
The governor swore in three new commissioners at the state executive council meeting on Monday:
* **Hajia Zainab Babantakko**, appointed to the Ministry for Women Affairs, replacing Hajiya Hajara Jibrin Gidado, who was elected as the Executive Chairperson of Itas Gadau Local Government Area.
* **Dr Sani Mohammed Dambam**, the immediate past Chairman of Bauchi State Agency for of HIV, Tuberculosis and malaria (BACATMA), has been appointed as the new Commissioner for Health.
* **Engineer Mohammed Andulkadir**, appointed as the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, replacing Muhammad Baba Maaji, the newly elected Executive Chairman of Bauchi Local Government.
The governor also swore in Dr. Ahmed Abdulrahman, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and renowned Islamic preacher, as the new Chief Security Adviser.
Hajiya Babantakko, speaking on behalf of the newly sworn in commissioners, expressed gratitude to the governor for the appointment and pledged to work hard for the progress of the state.
