Ahead of India’s upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, star batter Shubman Gill has expressed his anticipation for the “interesting and intriguing” contest. The series begins in Chennai on September 19th, with the second Test taking place in Kanpur.

Gill, who has been included in the squad for the Chennai match, praised Bangladesh’s recent performances, particularly their impressive showing against Pakistan. “You can’t underestimate any international side,” Gill told JioCinema. “The kind of cricket Bangladesh has played in the last couple of months, especially in Pakistan, has been impressive. Their fast bowlers and the way their middle-order batters have absorbed pressure shouldn’t be disregarded.”

Gill also reflected on his own journey as a Test batsman, specifically the challenges of adapting to the number three position. “Quite often, when you’re playing in a different position, everyone knows your potential, but you still have to prove yourself,” he admitted. While Gill had a slow start at number three, he eventually found his rhythm and delivered a strong performance against England, scoring 452 runs in nine innings during the series. He is now aiming to convert those fifties into centuries.
