**NEW YORK -** Hip-hop legend Eminem will kick off the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, taking the stage at UBS Arena in New York on September 11th. The performance comes as Eminem is nominated for an impressive eight awards, putting him in contention for a record-breaking night.

If he wins even a single award, Eminem will surpass Peter Gabriel to become the most awarded male artist in VMAs history. Currently, both artists are tied with 13 wins each. Eminem is also the second most nominated musician of all time, with 67 nods, just behind Madonna’s 71.

Eminem joins a star-studded lineup of performers at the VMAs, including Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J, Shawn Mendes, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Benson Boone, Lisa, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, and Sabrina Carpenter. Host and performer Megan Thee Stallion will also be joined by Video Vanguard Award recipient Katy Perry, who will perform a medley of her hits.

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards will air on MTV on September 11th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
