Mon Sep 09 12:05:09 UTC 2024: ## Morgan Wallen Leads CMA Nominations, Post Malone Makes Country Impact

Nashville, TN – The 58th Annual Country Music Association Awards are shaping up to be a thrilling affair, with Morgan Wallen leading the pack with a whopping seven nominations. Wallen’s success is partly due to his feature appearance on Post Malone’s hit song “I Had Some Help,” which snagged four nominations itself.

Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton follow closely with five nominations each, while Post Malone, with his four nods, ties with reigning entertainer of the year Lainey Wilson.

“I Had Some Help,” a collaboration that has seen Malone fully embrace the country music scene, is the year’s most-nominated song, vying for single of the year, song of the year, musical event of the year, and video of the year.

The entertainer of the year category features four returning nominees from last year: Wilson, Combs, Stapleton, and Wallen. Newcomer Jelly Roll has claimed a spot in the category, replacing Carrie Underwood.

A notable absence from the nominations is Beyoncé, whose country-themed album “Cowboy Carter” and single “Texas Hold ‘Em” received limited success at country radio despite topping charts.

In contrast, Shaboozey, a featured guest on Beyoncé’s album, received two nominations, solidifying his position as a rare example of a Black artist embraced in the country format.

The new artist category is particularly competitive this year, with Shaboozey, Megan Moroney, Bailey Zimmerman, Nate Smith, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Zach Top vying for the award.

Despite a strong fan base, Zach Bryan received only one nomination, leaving some wondering if his reluctance to fully embrace the country artist role might be impacting his recognition.

The CMA Awards telecast is scheduled for November 20th on ABC, with a host or hosts yet to be announced. The show promises to be a night of celebration, with the winner of the coveted entertainer of the year award still up in the air.
