**LOUISVILLE, KY -** Big Lots, the popular discount retailer, has announced it is filing for bankruptcy, citing high inflation and interest rates as contributing factors. The 57-year-old company has secured over $700 million in funding to ensure continued operations and payment of workers and vendors.
A private equity firm is expected to take over most of Big Lots’ stores and operations, but the company has already announced the closure of 300 locations, including the store on Poplar Level Road near Interstate 264 in Louisville. Employees at the Louisville location state that the store will close on October 13th.
