Tue Sep 10 22:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Apple’s New iPhones Arrive in India: Cheaper Pro Models, but Still More Expensive Than Overseas
Apple has unveiled its latest iPhone lineup – the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max – at its “It’s Glowtime” event. While the standard iPhone 16 models are priced similarly to their predecessors in India, the Pro series has seen a slight price reduction. All four iPhones are now available for pre-order and will hit stores on September 20th.
Despite the price drop, the iPhone 16 Pro series remains significantly more expensive in India than in other markets like the US, where the starting price is almost Rs. 20,000 lower. The same trend applies to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, with the base model costing roughly Rs. 40,000 more in India than in the US.
The disparity in pricing raises concerns for Indian consumers, particularly when considering the competitive pricing of the non-Pro models. While both the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus offer value for money in the Indian market, the high price of the Pro models might deter some buyers.
Apple offers a global warranty for its iPhones, and consumers can purchase AppleCare+ to extend the warranty for two years. However, potential buyers should be aware of the differences in regional versions. US iPhones lack a physical SIM slot and only support eSIMs, while Indian models come with a nano SIM slot and eSIM compatibility. iPhones purchased in China feature two nano SIM slots but do not support eSIMs.
Overall, while Apple’s latest iPhones offer compelling features, the pricing disparity between India and other global markets might limit their appeal to Indian consumers, particularly those considering the Pro models.
