Mon Sep 09 14:15:00 UTC 2024: ## Fathers Incorporated’s Million Father March Aims to Boost Father Engagement in Education
**ATLANTA, September 9, 2024** – Fathers Incorporated is gearing up for its annual Million Father March, set for Friday, September 20th. This year’s theme, “The Power of Presence: Fathers Engaged in Education,” highlights the crucial role fathers play in their children’s academic success.
The march, which began in 2004, aims to challenge the perception of absent fathers and encourage active involvement in children’s education. This year, 21 states are participating, with nearly 29,000 dads expected to participate, impacting an estimated 112,500 children. The ultimate goal is to reach 1 million fathers nationwide.
“We developed the Million Father March to give fathers an opportunity to be seen, and to feel wanted, honored, and supported,” said Kenneth Braswell, CEO of Fathers Incorporated. “We urge fathers to be not just physically present, but actively involved in every facet of their child’s academic life.”
Research consistently shows that involved fathers positively impact their children, leading to improved academic performance, better social skills, and increased self-esteem.
“Fathers bring unique skills, talents, and perspectives to the school environment,” Braswell added. “They have the power to enhance the educational experience for all students while bridging the gap between home and school.”
Fathers Incorporated encourages schools, school systems, and organizations to join the initiative by signing up for the 2024 Million Father March toolkit. The toolkit provides resources for implementing father-engagement initiatives throughout the year.
