Mon Sep 09 14:13:13 UTC 2024: ## Apple Unveils “The Observatory” – A New Subterranean Building at Apple Park

**Cupertino, California** – Alongside the highly anticipated iPhone 16 launch, Apple today opened a brand new building on its Apple Park campus, dubbed “The Observatory.” This subterranean structure, designed to host launch events and showcase Apple’s latest technologies, is seamlessly integrated into the surrounding landscape, offering breathtaking views of the campus greenery and the Santa Clara Valley.

John De Mario, Apple’s global head of design for real estate and development, explained that “The Observatory truly is an extension of Apple Park, showcasing the best of California and the natural environment around us.” The building’s design draws inspiration from Steve Jobs Theater, featuring similar stone, terrazzo, and wood elements.

The Observatory’s entrance is a curved path leading to a domed hall topped with a circular oculus that opens to the sky. A stone sliding door from the antechamber leads to the main events space, which opens onto a large terrace. This terrace features a “portal-like opening” framing a stunning view of the Apple Park landscaping and the surrounding mountains.

Following the iPhone 16 announcement, Apple will likely use The Observatory for post-event product briefings and to offer hands-on experiences with the new hardware.
