Fri Sep 06 20:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Union Minister Assures Telangana Farmers of Central Assistance Amid Flood Crisis
**HYDERABAD, Sept 6:** Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited flood-affected areas in Telangana on Friday, offering reassurance of central support to help farmers recover from crop losses.
Chouhan expressed concern over the devastation caused by the recent floods, particularly the damage to paddy and chilli crops, livestock, and household belongings. He acknowledged the distress faced by farmers, urging them not to despair.
In a veiled criticism of the previous BRS government, Chouhan alleged that the state’s failure to utilize and divert central funds, coupled with the non-implementation of schemes like the PM crop insurance scheme, exacerbated the current crisis. He pointed out that the state’s inadequate utilization of funds resulted in the non-availability of central assistance during this time of need.
However, he assured that the central government, alongside the state administration, would work together to find solutions for affected farmers. This includes formulating both short-term and long-term plans to address the crop damage.
The minister stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have sent a central team, including himself and Union MoS (Home) Bandi Sanjay Kumar, to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance. A joint effort between the state and central governments will be undertaken to provide relief and aid to farmers.
The Telangana government is currently enumerating the damage caused by the floods, and a central team will soon conduct an assessment. Following this, the central government will extend all necessary aid to the state to help farmers overcome the crisis.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other state ministers were present during the minister’s visit to the flood-affected areas.
