**Laurel County, KY** – Authorities in Laurel County, Kentucky are actively searching for 32-year-old Joseph Couch, a person of interest in a shooting incident that injured seven people on Interstate 75 Saturday evening. Couch is considered armed and dangerous.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. near exit 49 on I-75. The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a gunshot victim and discovered nine vehicles with bullet holes. Five individuals were shot, while two others sustained injuries in a crash related to the shooting.
Saint Joseph London hospital, which received multiple patients, confirmed that all are being treated for minor injuries.
The highway was closed for approximately two hours following the shooting but has since reopened.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has expressed concern and offered support to those affected, stating, “I am receiving initial reports from the Kentucky State Police and our Office of Homeland Security – together we are actively monitoring the situation and offering support in any way possible. Please pray for everyone involved.”
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Joseph Couch to contact them immediately.
