Sun Sep 08 12:16:41 UTC 2024: ## England All-Rounder Moeen Ali Retires from International Cricket
**Birmingham, England** – England all-rounder Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 37, ending a decorated career spanning nearly a decade. The decision comes after Ali was not selected for the upcoming series against Australia.
Ali, a left-handed batter and right-arm spinner, represented England in 68 Tests, 138 ODIs, and 92 T20Is since 2014. His last international appearance was in June. He is the first Asian-origin cricketer to captain England in T20Is and has achieved notable milestones, including five centuries in Test matches, three in ODIs, and 366 wickets across all formats.
He was part of the England team that won the 2019 50-over World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup. Ali also holds the record for the fastest half-century in T20Is for England, reaching fifty off just 16 balls against South Africa in 2022.
Reflecting on his career, Ali expressed pride in his achievements and acknowledged the natural progression of the team. “I’ve played a lot of cricket for England. It’s time for the next generation,” he stated.
While he is stepping away from international cricket, Ali plans to continue playing in franchise cricket and pursue a coaching career in the future.
