**Bozeman, MT** – The No. 3 ranked Montana State Bobcats showcased their offensive prowess in a dominant 41-24 victory over the Maine Black Bears in their home-opening Gold Rush game on Saturday.

The Bobcats, who had never faced Maine before, built a 38-7 halftime lead, thanks in part to three touchdowns from running back Scottre Humphrey and two from Adam Jones. Humphrey finished with 87 rushing yards on just three carries, while Jones added 63 rushing yards and 28 receiving yards.

Quarterback Tommy Mellott was efficient in the first half, completing 11 of 14 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 66 yards on five carries.

Maine, who had won their season opener last week, struggled to keep pace with the Bobcats’ high-powered offense. The Black Bears gained just 134 total yards in the first half, compared to MSU’s 372.

The Bobcats were without starting cornerback Jon Johnson, who suffered a hand injury last week. Despite the injury, MSU’s defense forced three turnovers, including a strip sack by Kesean Dyson that led to a Maine touchdown.

The win extended MSU’s winning streak in Gold Rush games to six. The Bobcats will look to continue their strong start next week on the road against Northern Iowa.
