– This is the first time a serving Pakistan Army chief has admitted to the involvement in Kargil conflict
– Pakistan has previously avoided references to the Kargil conflict in official communication
– General Munir also spoke about sacrifices made by Pakistan in the war against terrorism and referred to Kashmir as a global problem
– India marked 25 years of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26 this year
– Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had stated that Indian forces did not cross the Line of Control after winning the Kargil war
– Singh also mentioned that India can cross the LoC in the future if needed.
