Sat Sep 07 02:51:37 UTC 2024: ## England Fast Bowler Mark Wood Out for the Year with Elbow Injury

**London, August 23, 2015** – England fast bowler Mark Wood will miss the remainder of the year due to a right elbow injury. The 34-year-old, who has taken 119 wickets in 37 tests, discovered the injury during a medical check-up after initially being ruled out of the Sri Lanka series with a thigh injury.

“I was shocked,” Wood wrote on Instagram, “I’d put that down to the normal niggles every fast bowler gets and which I was playing through. I’m especially surprised because I’ve been playing test cricket and kept my speeds up.”

The injury will see Wood miss England’s test tours of Pakistan in October and New Zealand in December. He is aiming to return to full fitness by early 2025 in time for England’s white-ball tour of India and the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

“See you for some rockets in 2025,” Wood wrote on Instagram, referencing his pace bowling prowess.

The news comes as a blow to England, who are already struggling with injuries to key players. Wood’s absence will be a significant loss to the team, especially during their upcoming tours.
