Sun Sep 08 12:16:45 UTC 2024: ## England’s Moeen Ali Retires from International Cricket

**LONDON** – England’s all-rounder and World Cup winner, Moeen Ali, has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 37. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Ali stated that he felt it was “time for the next generation” after being left out of the England squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia.

“I’ve played a lot of cricket for England. It’s time for the next generation, which was also explained to me,” Ali said. “It felt the time was right. I’ve done my part.”

Ali, who made his international debut in 2014, has played 68 Tests, 138 ODIs, and 92 T20s for England. He is known for his spin bowling and aggressive batting style, particularly in the lower order. He is also one of the first openly Muslim cricketers to represent England.

Though he could have continued playing, Ali acknowledged his age and the need for the team to evolve. “I could hold on and try to play for England again, but I know in reality I won’t,” he explained. “Even retiring, I don’t feel it’s because I’m not good enough — I still feel I can play. But I get how things are, and the team needs to evolve into another cycle.”

Ali is proud of his accomplishments, particularly his 204 Test wickets and five Test centuries. He plans to continue playing franchise cricket and eventually pursue a coaching career.

“Coaching is something I want to do — I want to be one of the best,” he said. “I can learn a lot from (England coach Brendon McCullum).”

Moeen Ali leaves behind a legacy as a talented and charismatic player. He will be remembered for his contributions to the England team and for inspiring a new generation of cricketers.
