Korea took an early lead through Jihun Yang’s penalty stroke in the third minute, but Japan quickly responded with a field goal from Naru Kimura in the seventh minute. Kazumasa Matsumoto put Japan ahead in the 18th minute before Yuki Chiba extended their lead to 3-1 with a brilliant field goal in the 25th minute.

Korea fought back in the third quarter, with Junghoo Kim scoring a field goal in the 31st minute. Despite Japan’s Yusuke Kawamura adding another goal in the 36th minute, Jihun Yang’s penalty corner conversion in the 38th minute kept Korea in contention.

The final quarter saw a flurry of goals. Jihun Yang scored his third goal of the match in the 53rd minute to equalize, but Korea’s defense conceded immediately as Kosei Kawabe scored a quick counter-attack goal. With just minutes remaining, Korea earned back-to-back penalty corners, culminating in Hyeonhong Kim’s fifth goal for Korea, securing the draw.

“It was a fantastic match today,” said Hero of the Match, Yuki Chiba of Japan. “Our efforts in the counter-attack resulted in many goals. Although we didn’t win, we will bounce back tomorrow against India.”
