Sun Sep 08 13:13:12 UTC 2024: ## Dangerous “Chroming” Trend Claims Another Victim: 12-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized After Inhaling Deodorant
**Sheffield, UK** – A 12-year-old boy, Cesar Watson-King, is recovering after suffering multiple seizures and cardiac arrest following a dangerous trend known as “chroming.” The boy’s mother, Nichola King, discovered him having a seizure on the kitchen floor after hearing a loud bang. She immediately administered CPR while her eldest son called emergency services.
Police investigating the incident found a can of deodorant and other items associated with chroming, confirming that Cesar had inhaled the toxic fumes. The trend involves inhaling aerosols, primarily deodorant, for a quick high.
“I had no idea what had happened,” said King, describing the terrifying moment her son turned blue and stopped breathing. “I thought he’d died.”
Cesar was rushed to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where he was put into a medically induced coma for two days. While he has since been discharged and is recovering, he still experiences fatigue and memory problems.
King, who was unaware of the chroming trend, is now warning other parents and children about the dangers. She emphasizes that the trend is not worth the risk, citing the tragic deaths of two other young people, 11-year-old Tommie-lee Gracie Billington and 14-year-old Sarah Mescall, who also succumbed to chroming.
King also stresses the importance of parents learning first aid, highlighting its potential to save lives in emergency situations.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking within online trends and underscores the need for parental awareness and vigilance in protecting children from potentially harmful activities.
