Sat Sep 07 20:33:23 UTC 2024: 1. Kapil Parmar won India’s first-ever Paralympic medal in Judo by defeating Brazil’s Eliatin de Oliveira.
2. Parmar dominated the competition from the start and achieved a 10-0 victory in the final.
3. He had previously faced defeat in the semi-finals to Iran’s S Banitaba Khorram Abadi.
4. Parmar hails from a small village in Madhya Pradesh and suffered a childhood accident which led him to judo.
5. He was guided by coaches Bhagwan Das and Manoj, and never gave up on his passion for judo despite adversities.
6. Parmar runs a tea shop with his brother Lalit to support his training and has become an inspiration in his community.
