Fri Sep 06 22:45:49 UTC 2024: – The Public Schools Branch in Prince Edward Island conducted a study on overcrowding in classrooms and found that space is at a premium, especially in the Charlottetown area.
– The study recommended the construction of three new schools, including a junior high in Stratford and one each near Charlottetown’s West Royalty and L.M. Montgomery elementary schools.
– The report suggested that even schools currently showing a decline in student population could see an increase due to residential development in their intake areas.
– The report also recommended physical modifications and modernizations at existing schools to create more space.
– The Public Schools Branch plans to hold public meetings for feedback and will present final recommendations to the province for action.
