– Manufactured by Mumbai-based Entod Pharmaceuticals, available from October for Rs 350 with prescription
– PresVu is designed to reduce the need for reading glasses in those with presbyopia, an age-related vision condition affecting people over 40
– Presbyopia is caused by the eye’s lens losing flexibility over time, making it hard to focus on close objects
– Common symptoms include difficulty reading small print, needing to hold reading materials farther away, and eye strain during close-up tasks
– Around 45% of Indian adults over 40 have presbyopia and need reading glasses
– PresVu’s unique formulation aims to eliminate blurry vision and lubricate the eyes, using advanced dynamic buffer technology
– The drops can be used for years, making them affordable and accessible
– A similar formulation called Vuity was introduced in the US in 2022, the only FDA-approved eye drop for age-related blurry vision.
